The services team recently installed the Obic multilayer system in an over build manhole located on a trunk main project in the Lower Mainland.

The heavy flows and concentrations of acidic H2S gasses that can be found within these large systems are notorious for eating away and rotting out concrete structures, severely impacting their effective service life.

The Obic multilayer system will offer top to bottom, monolithic protection to this acid attack while offering high flexibility and elongation properties to handle the settlement, frost heaving and traffic impacts that can cause concrete alone to fail with time.

While added structure wasn't necessarily required in this application, the Multi-layer system consists of a polyurea-foam-polyurea sandwich, allowing it to offer structural properties in a situation where the surrounding structure has already began deteriorating.
